The Scientology Volunteer Ministers South Pacific Goodwill Tour was warmly welcomed to Suva, the capital of Fiji by traditional dancers and over 200 dignitaries including the Deputy Mayor, the Deputy Director for Immigration, the Minister of Youth & Sports and the Police Commissioner in attendance.
The Deputy Mayor showed his enthusiasm for the Scientology Goodwill Tour when he said, "The Volunteer Ministers could not have come at a better time. We are focused on improving education and the Scientology Volunteer Ministers offer a study program teaching a technology of how to study. Drugs are a growing problem here and the Volunteer Ministers have answers to helping people come off drugs. This group has the message which says: No matter how big the problem may seem, something CAN be done about it."
The second speaker was the Minister of Youth & Sports in Fiji, he spoke of his intention to take advantage of the Scientology Disaster Response Training and he looked forward to seeing the Volunteer Ministers help tackle Fiji's social ills.
And as the celebration ended, work for the Scientology Volunteer Ministers began. Their bright yellow tent, pitched in the United Nations Park, was filled to its capacity throughout the day. Nurses came to the tent where they were trained on Scientology Assists. Hundreds of people were toured through the Volunteer Minister tent and lectures were given based on the Scientology Handbook.
Fiji is the 2nd stop on the South Pacific Goodwill Tour, which was officially launched on the 15th of July with its Grand Opening in Auckland, New Zealand, which was attended by dignitaries from the Maori and South Pacific Communities.

Assists are techniques developed by L. Ron Hubbard. They operate on the principle that one tends to withdraw mentally or spiritually from an injured area. Only by restoring communication with this area can one bring the spiritual element into healing, thereby greatly speeding the healing process. Assists are used to alleviate stress and physical aches and pains, or to orient a confused or distraught individual to his present environment.
